Find My User Guide
Before you can share your location with your friends and find your devices, you need to turn on Location Services and Find My Mac. You can do this when you open Find My for the first time or later in System Preferences.
Turn on Location Services
See all your devices on a map. Is your iPad at home or back at the office? Use the map to get a full. In the Find My app on your Mac, click Devices. In the Devices list, select the device you want to get directions to, then click the Info button on the map. Find My iPhone: If you misplace your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Mac, the Find My iPhone app will let you use any iOS device to find it and protect your data. Simply install this free app, open it, and sign in with the Apple ID you use for iCloud. Find My iPhone will help you locate your missing d. To narrow your search, you can choose Not on this iPhone. All: Shows you a list of every app you bought through the app store, sorted by the newest first. Not on this iPhone: Includes only the apps that aren’t installed on your app currently. Once you find an app to download, tap on the iCloud icon to begin the process.
On your Mac, choose Apple menu > System Preferences, then click Security & Privacy.
Click Privacy, then click Location Services on the left.
Click the lock icon to unlock it, then enter an administrator name and password.
Select Enable Location Services, then select Find My in the list of apps.
If you prefer, you can also download the iOS 13 update through iTunes on your Mac or PC. Make sure you’ve updated to the latest version of iTunes. Attach your iPhone or iPod Touch to your computer.
Set up Find My Mac
On your Mac, choose Apple menu > System Preferences, then click Apple ID.
If you don’t see Apple ID, click Sign In, then sign in with your Apple ID or click Create Apple ID (if you don’t already have one).
Click iCloud in the sidebar.
Select Find My Mac, then click Allow (if asked) to allow Find My Mac to use the location of your Mac.
If a Details button is next to Find My Mac, make sure you turned on Location Services and Find My in Security & Privacy preferences.
Turn on Find My options
On your Mac, choose Apple menu > System Preferences, click Apple ID, then click iCloud in the sidebar.
If you don’t see Apple ID, click Sign In, then sign in with your Apple ID or click Create Apple ID (if you don’t already have one).
Click iCloud in the sidebar.
Select Find My Mac, then click Options.
If you see a Details button, you need to set up Find My.
Turn any of the following on or off:
Find My Mac: Turning this option on allows you to locate your Mac if you misplace it, and protect the information on it.
Coding programs for mac. Offline Finding: Turning this option on allows you to locate your device (using Bluetooth) even when it isn’t connected to Wi-Fi or cellular.
Note: When you turn off Offline Finding, your Mac can’t be found by you or anyone else.

Find your Apple devices.

Play a sound to
find your device.
When you can’t find something but think it’s nearby or around others who might hear it, you can play a sound to pinpoint its location. Your AirPods play a specifically designed sound that can project across a room — and even farther.

Display a message on your lost device.
Find My Iphone On Macbook
If your device goes missing, put it in Lost Mode to lock it immediately and start tracking its location. You can also display a message with a contact number on your device’s Lock Screen, so whoever finds it can call you without accessing the rest of its information.
Erase it with ease.
Worried that your device has fallen into the wrong hands? You may want to erase it remotely to delete your personal data and restore your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Apple Watch, or Mac to its factory settings. If you retrieve it, you can restore it from your iCloud backup.

Lock it down. Automatically.
Activation Lock is designed to prevent anyone else from using or selling your device.* When you enable Find My on your device, Activation Lock is turned on automatically. Your Apple ID and password will then be required before anyone can erase your device or reactivate it.
You can even find devices that are offline.
If your missing device can’t connect to the internet, the Find My app can still help you track it down using the Find My network — hundreds of millions of iPhone, iPad, and Mac devices around the world. Nearby devices securely send the location of your missing device to iCloud, then you can see where it is in the Find My app. It’s all anonymous and encrypted to protect everyone’s privacy.

When you share your location with friends, it’s easier for you to find each other and stay connected. Share your location for an hour, a day, or indefinitely as you see fit.
Get notifications when they’ve left or arrived.

You can set up notifications for when friends and family leave or arrive at a place. They’ll be notified when you set it up, so no one’s privacy is compromised. You can also receive alerts and notifications when your child has arrived at or departed from school.
Everyone’s location data stays private.
Just like every Apple product, Find My is designed to put you in control of your data. Apple receives location information only when you actively locate your device, mark it as lost, or enable Send Last Location. Location data is encrypted on Apple’s servers and kept for no more than 24 hours. And when the Find My network is used, everyone’s information is kept private — even from Apple.
